The biggest thing the club did last year was to buy a 4x4 so we can keep driving up Myreton.
Other than that there is nothing too major to report. Last summer wasn't the best summer for flying but some got done.
A bunch of us had a holiday in France. On the social side we had a barbecue in the summer and a Christmas dinner, both good fun.
At the end of the financial year we had a total of £774.77 in the bank. The number of members for 2007/8 was 19, compared to 28 in 2006/7.
The treasurer recommended a level of £30 for this year which would roughly cover our basic costs given a similar number of members to last year. This was agreed.
New committee elected as follows:
Chair: Jan Crombie
Treasurer: Richard Crombie
Secretary/Website: David Fletcher
Social: Sarah Will
Communications: Peter Will
SHPF rep: Gordon Smyth if he is willing to continue doing this.
Sites / 4x4: Craig Ross / Stuart Duchart
One member had been told by the BHPA that we weren't an affiliated club any more. We hadn't heard this from them before and they have been accepting membership renewals from our members without complaining. Jan will contact them.
The £500 fee paid for access to the track up Myreton is a lot to cover with the current number of members. We have also been using the track a lot less than in the past.
Jan and Stuart are going to talk to the farmer and may be able to sound him out about a reduction for next year. One option would be payment per trip rather than a fixed fee. It would also be a big saving for us if the farmer would allow us to keep the 4x4 on his land, because it would not need to be taxed and we could run it on red diesel.
We currently have four keyholders for the 4x4.
The tax etc. on the 4x4 is not due until November so at the end of the summer we can review how much money we have made from it and consider that along with how much it will cost for access to the track next year.
We will write to people by post with the membership form.
There's not been a lot of stuff to put on the website but we can mail out asking people for contributions.
David will add an email/phone list of members, and something to let people post messages. This would be useful for stuff like checking if the 4x4 is going up the hill.
There was an article in Skywings about a free text messaging service that we might be able to use.
Some people probably going to the Lakes Charity Classic 6th-8th June.
Stuart is suggesting Lanzarote in November.
